Woodshop Project - Shelf
For my first wood shop project this year, I was supposed to make something for the school or the wood shop. I decided to make two shelves for a display cabinet in the tech hallway. I wanted to make shelves that stood out and were different than any ordinary shelf. I made many sketches and went online for inspiration.

In the end I decided to make a shelf in the shape of a box, where the display item would sit inside.
I used wood joinery for the first time to join my four pieces using a rabbet joint. I used a chisel for my joints, however I was in short of time and used a band saw near the end. I chose to oil my project for a raw wooden finish and added colour to the edges at the front for a pop.
Materials I used were:
- Bass Wood
- Chisels and a razor saw
- Acrylic paints and primer
- Wood Glue
- Tung Oil
